The city council offer a wide range of services to help residents of the city and details of them can be found on their website. You can also chat with staff at the council to get help and advice as well as to make some payments over the phone.
If you need to report a problem with the roads around your home or workplace, you can contact the city council. This includes reporting potholes and road defects and also if you notice a street light nor working properly. If you have received a parking ticket, you can pay it through the website or speak to someone for more information or to dispute it.
The council oversee a number of leisure facilities around the city including parks and gardens, libraries and sports facilities. You can find out more information about any of these by calling them. You can also find out about school information such as term dates, grants and allowances and also how to register your child for their first school.
If you want to extend or change your home, you can access the planning guidance and applications department through the website. You can also ring staff to talk through what you want to do. Glasgow is now divided into 23 wards for the purposes of elections, a system that was introduced for the 2017 council elections. These wards are:

There are also different centres around the city handling different matters. For council tax and benefits queries, there are three centres. One is at 780 Govan Road, Govan, another at 125 Westmuir Street, Parkhead and the third on 45 John Street in the city centre. These are open weekdays from 9-5 or 4:30. There is also a dedicated payment line for tax and benefits on 0141 287 0300 (24 hours).
