Can DVLA give my details?

Under data protection regulations, the DVLA have to protect the details of all drivers around the UK.  But that doesn’t mean they can’t give them out – they just need to be sure there’s a valid reason for it.  Most common reasons for giving out details is that the police or local authorities have requested them. Here the DVLA can provide your information as long as they show why.

They can also give your details to private companies as long as they have a valid reason for it. Clamping companies are one example. They don’t sell this information like some companies do.  But they do charge these companies for the access, so the taxpayer doesn’t end up covering the cost of providing this information to private companies.
