Can DVLA clamp my car?

Both the DVLA and some private companies have the right to clamp your car.  For the DVLA, they can clamp your car if it has no insurance or tax on it or if the MOT has run out.  They can do this if it is on the road or on private property like your driveway or garden. The situation is a little different for private companies.

They cannot clamp on private property, but they can when the car is on the roadside. The police and local authorities also have similar powers to clamp a car if they can show a valid reason for it.
