Services on offer
Bath & North East Somerset Council offers a wide range of services for residents of the area. Some services can be accessed through their website while most can be used over the phone and they also have drop in centres around the area.
If you have queries about your council tax, benefits or grants from the local authority, you can use the main switchboard to find the department that handles these queries. You can find out if you are entitled to a benefit or if there are schemes operated by the council that can help you financially.
BANES is responsible for housing, planning and building control for the area. If you are in council housing and have a query, you can contact them. Additionally, if you need to chase up planning permission or building control queries you can use these numbers. There is also an online portal offering advice and to easily apply for planning permission.
The city of Bath itself is separated into several electoral wards while the wider council area is composed of parishes. The wards of Bath are:

The first place to contact the council is through the main switchboard for the Bath office which is 01225 477000. There are also specific numbers for different departments depending on the services that you need:

The out of hours service is for things like trees blocking roads, broken glass on a highway, syringes in public places and imminent flooding of a property. You can also use to report road traffic collisions and unsafe buildings in addition to ringing the main 999 emergency services line. Calls to these numbers are charged at normal local rates.
There are also four locations where you can speak to council staff and get help with your various queries and issues. The Bath One Stop Shop is located at 3-4 Manvers Street in Bath and is Monday to Saturday. There is also the main Guildhall which includes services like the Register Office and is open weekdays only.
Outside of Bath, there are two other council offices. Keynsham One Stop Shop is in the Civic Centre on Market Walk and is open 8:30-5 weekdays and from 9:30-4:30 Saturdays. There is also The Hollies in Midsomer Norton which is open weekdays. Both offer self-serve kiosks, computers and telephones for residents to use.
