Amazon has made their speedy delivery one of the core parts of their business. And as a Prime customer, you get unlimited next day delivery on millions of items. But what happens if the order is late or doesn’t arrive when Amazon tells you it will?
Understanding Amazon delivery
It is important to understand Amazon delivery and when your parcel is due in order to understand if it is late. For example, if you are an Amazon Prime customer and you are ordering an item that shows as Prime, it is usually delivered the next day, depending on what time you put in the order.
If you aren’t an Amazon Prime customer, then you may use their free delivery which normally delivers in 3-5 working days. Or you can choose to pay for an upgraded delivery that will mean you get quicker – there will be options at the checkout that you can select from.
Whatever the delivery position, Amazon will send a series of emails. One will be to confirm the order which will tell you what kind of delivery you have chosen and usually the delivery date. You will get another on the day of delivery and usually, one after the delivery has been made – this is ideal if you haven’t got the parcel and are worried that it might have gone missing.
Armed with this information, you will always know if an order is due or now. And if you realise that it is due but hasn’t arrived or the date is past, then you can get in touch with Amazon about it. the best place to start is their ‘Contact Us’ page on their website.
On this page, you will see information about any items currently being shipped to any of the addresses you have listed. This will include tracking information if available, arrival time and more. You can then select an issue to tell them more about what’s wrong – in this case, that the parcel hasn’t arrived which means you can use the ‘where’s my stuff’ option.
You can then either speak to Amazon customer services on the phone, email or by live chat. The phone is the option they advise as being the quickest, but you can use the live chat if you don’t want to hang on the phone and wait times are usually okay. If the matter isn’t urgent, you can also send them an email.
Talking to customer services
When you get through to customer services, you will be able to tell them what the problem is, and they will look into the issues. If a parcel has gone missing, there’s a good chance that you will be offered a free month of Amazon Prime to apologise for this.
Some people have said you only get this if you have suffered due to the parcel not turning up, but this can be something as simple as you couldn’t clean the kitchen because the cleaning products you ordered didn’t arrive. It pays to explain why the late delivery has caused you a problem, even if it is a minor one.
If you experience a series of parcels that don’t arrive, you may want to speak to a manager at the customer services team. So use our Amazon contact number page. Most representatives are only allowed to give away a single free month for the first time a parcel goes missing. And if you are experienced repeating missing parcels, then there’s a bigger issue that needs to be considered as well. It may be that they have incorrect information somewhere.
You can get in touch with Amazon across social media, particularly on Twitter. But Amazon doesn’t recommend this because the information that you send isn’t secure. You need to provide an order number to talk to them about the problem, but it isn’t a good idea to put this on social media.
Amazon is always keen to help sort a problem, even if they cant deliver, so it is good to get in touch with customer services as soon as possible. There is also a lot of information on the website about how to track your parcel, find your delivery information and what to do if something goes wrong and the item isn’t delivered.
